Abide in Christ
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit.” —John 15:5 ESV
RECEIVE
Jesus never intended the Christian life to be lived at a distance from Him. To abide is to remain—to stay close, receive continually, and depend upon Him as the source of life. We are not the vine. We are the branches, and everything good that grows through us begins with Christ.
REFLECT
It is easy to approach spiritual growth as another responsibility to manage. Yet Jesus does not ask us to manufacture His character through our own effort. As we remain with Him, His Word reshapes our thinking, His Spirit softens our hearts, and His love becomes our strength. Fruit is not something a branch forces into existence. It grows because the branch remains connected to the vine.
RESPOND
Choose one simple way to remain close to Jesus today: linger over a passage of Scripture, speak honestly with Him in prayer, or pause before a decision and ask for His guidance.
PRAYER
Jesus, keep me close to You. Forgive me for trying to live from my own strength. Let Your Word dwell deeply within me, Your Spirit guide me, and Your character become increasingly visible in my life. Amen.
